Our Visit Experience at McCarthys Pub Bern
Much shine and fine beer in the city center
During the warmer months, you first see the terrace directly on Aarbergergasse in front of McCarthys Pub Bern. There you can sit comfortably outside, enjoy a beer, and watch the hustle and bustle of the city.
When you enter the pub, you can expect the interior of a traditional Irish pub. At the bar there are taps for the many types of beer that can be enjoyed on draft. Behind them, you can see the high-proof drinks in the brightly lit shelf.
Guests can sit at the bar or at the solid wooden tables with comfortably padded chairs and benches. McCarthys has a lot of space and a lot of shine.

Authentic Pub Food at McCarthys Bern
Wir haben einen Tisch im vorderen Bereich des Lokals reserviert. Zum Essen wurden wir am Tisch bedient. Der Kellner kam schnell und hat unsere Bestellung aufgenommen. Ich habe mir den Beef & Guinness Pie bestellt. Bei der Bestellung im McCarthys stellt sich die Frage, ob man als Gast auf Englisch bestellen sollte, oder ob Deutsch auch geht. Ich habe den Test gemacht und auf Schweizerdeutsch bestellt. Tatsächlich habe ich auch das erhalten was ich wollte.
The dish consisted of an individual pie, fresh fried potatoes, roasted vegetables and a small pitcher with sauce (gravy).
The pie was as it should be – outside with a shortcrust pastry and inside with a hearty filling of beef pieces. The fried potatoes were freshly prepared and tasted excellent when drizzled with some sauce. Zucchini and bell peppers were also fine.
The food was exactly like I have eaten in English pubs, so really authentic. You can go to McCarthys Pub Bern not only to drink a beer, but also to eat well.
